In the distant future, a potent and rare energy resource known as rubium controls the interstellar economy. Several galactic corporations compete for control over this resource in hopes of securing riches for themselves. When their military forces arrive to harvest rubium found on a foreign moon, they are greeted by the many indigenous life forms. They quickly conscript the alien creatures and begin marching against their competitors. Far out on the galactic frontier, away from oversight or public scrutiny, these four corporations now do fierce battle for control of the moon’s rubium.

    A Worthy Remake

Posted by Andrew Gray on Aug 27th 2024

It plays just like the original, a territory and mission-completion game where you explore and control Rubium mines, Rubium being the currency you use to hire specialized troops and aliens to control your territory, fight battles, and complete secret objectives. The fancy translucent models are nearly identical to the original. The biggest glow-up is the new plastic monolith in the center, the crystals representing Rubium, and the new artwork on all the action cards (though the fungoid art doesn't really match the model). Personally I also like the new clean futuristic high-contrast art style, even if it does lack some of the personality the original had. Overall I'm thrilled to have such a pretty new version of an old fun game!
