History. Mystery. Secrets.

The colleges, universities, and other academic institutions in this book are rife with all three. Containing everything from succinct locations to take the heavy lifting out of designing a campus setting, to four deeply-developed settings suitable for an entire chronicle. Alma Maters sheds light on the ivory towers of academia – home to information that can keep a Hunter cell alive, and quarries that want them dead – in the World of Darkness.

Features

  • Over fifty concise, ready-to-use academic-themed locations, including supernatural influences.
  • Four fully detailed academic institutions each with a chronicle’s worth of problems.
  • Two antagonist groups that can be threats to any cell in any setting.
  • New and revised player options to tie a Hunter to the world of academia.
  • Rules and options for expanding research and investigation in the World of Darkness.

Ok, while I am not certain I will ever actually run a HtR chronicle, I bought the first chronicle book (Lines Drawn in Blood) just to see if there was any useful story ideas to steal for either Vampire or Werewolf chronicles...and was blown away by the inspirations. This one is even better, the first story alone is fantastic and has a cinematic quality. The second is pretty cool as well, the third is a bit less. Then it picks back up with the shorter chapters, the Cardinal Quill group is great! I'm on the final chapter (the Gourmond Club) and that one is incredibly creepy. I'm not sure how the writers could do it, but books in this style would be absolutely awesome if they could be written in a more setting neutral fashion (kind of like the Chronicles of Darkness blue books). Though this is easily adaptable enough to work with the other two World of Darkness splats.
