My Father’s Work is intended to be played in one sitting, however, if time does not allow or if a break for dining is required, the app can be paused at the start of a new Round and your progress will be saved.
If you are going to pack away the game for an extended period, the Start of a New Generation is the best time to pause the game, as all board tracks will reset and the Storybook will provide any new setup requirements. To save your game state for later, follow these steps:
1. Print a Game Save sheet here. Or, simply write down the information requested in step 2.
2. Write down the following information on the Game Save sheet or a standard piece of paper:

- Scenario Name
- Generation #
- Player names, player colors & current scores
- Each player’s Journal Track progress
3. When packing away the game, keep the following items separated for each player:
- Estate Upgrade Tiles & Vanity Estate Upgrade Tiles Earned
- Masterwork Experiment
- Stored Experiments
- Any uncompleted Experiment cards in hand or Resources that were allowed to carry over to the next Generation (normally, this will just be one Experiment card, but some Estate Upgrade Tiles allow for more).
4. When you return to the game, reset everything back to the previous game state based on what was written down & separated. In the game app, select “Continue Game” from the main menu and follow any start of Generation set-up steps.
