MEET SARA, OUR VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES & MARKETING!

Posted by Renegade Games on Mar 23rd 2021

Sara was one of the very first employees at Renegade, and was just recently promoted to Vice President of Sales & Marketing!

What is your role at Renegade?

Sara: Vice President of Sales and Marketing and The Enemy of Fun.

How long have you been with the company, and what led you here?

Sara: I’ve always loved games so when I had an opportunity to quit my job as a pulmonary immunologist and work full time at my hobby store, I took the leap. I volunteered for a few great companies including Wizards of the Coast and and Cryptozoic before landing a full time job working for Scott Gaeta on the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game Organized Play team. So I had worked with Scott previously when he started Renegade Game Studios and was very excited when he offered me a job. I’ve now worked at Renegade for 5 full years and done my best to keep Scott in line for almost 8 years.

What is your favorite thing about working in the tabletop industry?

Sara: I love that I get to work on something that makes a difference in people’s lives. We are able to offer people experiences that help them find joy, connect with other people, and create invaluable memories. That’s pretty hard to beat.

What is your favorite board game?

Sara: It really depends on the situation. Games that us laugh or strategize long after we’ve put all the pieces away are my favorites. But finding the right game for the people around the table is the important part. While I love playing the Fox in the Forest or Hadrian’s Wall with my husband, I’m going to pull our the Search for Planet X or Clank when I can get together again with my nephews. I’d hate to have to pick just one!

What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t making or playing board games?

Sara: Hiking with my family in the beautiful Montana landscapes. I have a new puppy that is just about ready to start hiking with us and I can’t wait to get her out on the trails.

Do you have any advice for anyway that want to get into the industry?

Sara: We create games. The whole point of games is to connect with other people. If you want to be part of this industry, start there. Learn about the companies that are out there, who works for them, and how you can help. Be part of a demo team for a virtual convention. Organize a local charity drive. Reach out to a hobby store that might need a board game champion to teach their staff games for the holiday rush. There are tons of opportunities to be involved in this increasingly diverse and welcoming industry
