The rules could be better laid out and more detailed explanations of extras and add-ons to weapons and equipment. Overall it is a solid product that captures the 80s cartoon to a T.

Overall good start for the gi Joe eorld
Highly enjoyable core rulebook with incredible artwork. Game master areas feel a little thin. No references on how to create unique Cobra threats . For instance you have Blackout a Cobra sniper but what if you wsnted to create a Cobra ranger or vanguard style character? There's nothing that guides you on creating new combat npcs.

Opinion
I consider this ruleset is one of the better gamism rpg actually. You can find some rules details pretty similar to D&D 5e, but the principal rules have their own savor. Cool equipment likes vehicles and pets. And I consider it pretty easy to hack. You can use this book with any "military fantasy" you want without sweat. In the bad side rules to critical and specialization look strange. No one is perfect.

G.I. Joe RPG Core Book
Makes me reminiss about watch the TV show as a kid. Coming from 5E, the rules and system take a little getting used to. I have really enjoyed this so far.

Knowing is half the battle!
I have not yet played this game but I've read through most of the book and read many comments online and joined in various discussions. The book is beautifully constructed. I love most of the artwork, the layout is solid. The Essence20 system (new to me) seems solid, fun, and easy enough to learn. I have been a Joe fan for 40 years and have wanted a tabletop game for probably 35 years. I'm glad it's here now and I hope it stays around for a long time. Recommended!!
