Floating in the void of space, bereft of air to breathe or dirt to touch, the Necrotech Wraithriders were doomed by their planet’s destruction to a harrowing unlife of endless loneliness. In a desperate gambit these three linked their chains, holding their bodies close together and preventing total isolation in the void of space.

The Wraithriders cannot remember what their chains were used for; probably they were meant for war, and the Wraithriders were many in number. That doesn’t matter to them now. Now there are only three, and they will cling to one another until the end of time.
