Legends of the Undead

The first vampires remember their first nights, but do not speak of them. Others have heard tales, but know better than to believe them. The wise speak of The Book of Nod, but none have seen this fabled book of ancient lore.

These are their tales...

Their stories begin with the Chronicle of Caine and the earliest nights of the vampire. The Chronicle of Shadow reveals Caine's hidden teachings. Finally, the Chronicle of Secrets unveils the deepest mysteries of the Damned, including the coming dread of Gehenna.

The Book of Nod is a collection of mythic texts for use in the Vampire the Masquerade Roleplaying Game.

Presented as an epic poem, the Book of Nod is an in-game resource, viewed as sacred by Noddist scholars and most vampire elders, especially of the Sabbat. Rather than a book of game mechanics, this book can be used as a prop and for lore, as it outlines the genesis of vampires with the mythology of Caine.

Features:

  • Faux-leatherbound book with silver foil, gilded pages, and a blood-red ribbon
  • Rich mythology of the creation of vampires, usable as an in-game prop, clues and Story motivation for players, or as Storyteller inspiration
  • A perfect companion to Sabbat: The Black Hand for your 5th Edition Vampire: The Masquerade game
  • Loaded with legacy art from the original printing

    Must have in-story book

Posted by Jose Burgos on May 5th 2022

Indispensable companion book to VtM and of particular the Sabbat; this is the vampire bible re-published in really nice gloss paper with much brighter ink tones and really nice hardcover binding with silk bookmark. I picked up 2 of these since this has been out of print for a really long time.

    It’s ok - not great

Posted by Steven Brown on Apr 9th 2022

Outside of the core books the price point of these VtM 5e are simply too high. I have the book in hand it’s it’s small. It’s not just page count wise but side itself. Think a young ladies diary or the side of a Bible (not thickness but length and width). For the price being charged it’s too much. The lore is there and I won’t spoilt it but it’s “light” and filled with fluff (stuff found in 5e core book for example) is reprinted here but in a different way. This book is a must have for any WoD fan that doesn’t have an older version of it. This book is an easy pass for a casual fan. Final judgement: An attempt was made but failed immensely at expanding the lore of WoD. Had this been a £20.00 book; easy buy. At original msrp? Skip it.

The Book of Nod (HC, '21)

Posted by Wayne on Dec 16th 2021

If, like me, you're wondering whether it's worth updating your old soft copy, the answer is yes. The layout and illustrations alone vastly improve this version, along with the durability of the soft cover. Lore enthusiasts know the "book" is really a sporadic collection of sometimes contradictory fragments which are, of course, open to differing interpretations. This is not a mechanic, setting, or campaign book. Rather, it's a central text to in-game Cainite religion. It's good for flavor and story seeds and is nice enough to be a prop on your stream! Don't run a Sabbat campaign or roll a Noddist priest without it.

    Book of nod-great lore source

Posted by BRIAN SHOOP on Dec 14th 2021

I used to have this book when it was originally published(not sure where it ran off to) so I was very excited to see it being reprinted. The binding is well done, love the added book mark and everything is as I remember, with wonderful stories of the first vampires and vampire lore.

what can I tell you, this is a great book, I was lucky enough to talk with the modeler of the book and I really lived an experience like no other, the book has such good information that I can only say that hopefully they take out the one of the dark mother
